Heron Primary School is looking to appoint a reliable, caring & enthusiastic Teaching Assistant. The successful candidate will be supporting pupils in Key Stage 2, working with pupils in the class and in small groups. Experience of working in a primary school setting is preferable.
Applicants should demonstrate a positive and sensitive approach that puts the needs of the child first, strong interpersonal skills, ability to show initiative and a clear understanding of the ways in which children learn successfully. Experience of behaviour modelling and behaviour management strategies would also be an advantage.
Hours of work are 8:30–3:15, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday with a half–hour unpaid lunch. The role includes a half‑hour lunch cover, either outside supervising OPAL or in the dinner hall, as needs dictate. This half hour will be paid on a Grade 2.
We take up two references prior to interview and all appointments are subject to a police check in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. An enhanced DBS check is required for this post prior to commencement. Candidates must provide evidence of their right to employment in the United Kingdom. The school will also carry out online searches for shortlisted candidates of publicly available information, including social media.
