The Head of Geography will provide strategic and operational leadership of the Geography Department at Heron Hall Academy, ensuring high-quality teaching, learning and outcomes across KS3-KS5. The department delivers a knowledge-rich curriculum aligned to the national curriculum, developing pupils' understanding of physical and human geography, global issues and key geographical processes. You will lead curriculum development, quality assurance and departmental improvement, ensuring consistently high expectations and strong progress for all learners.
A key part of the role is maintaining excellent classroom practice through your own teaching commitment, modelling effective pedagogy and supporting colleagues through coaching and professional development. Working closely with senior leaders, you will use data, evaluation and evidence‑informed practice to drive continuous improvement and ensure strong outcomes in Geography.
We are seeking an experienced Geography teacher with a strong track record of teaching across KS3-KS5 and improving pupil outcomes. You will have secure subject knowledge, a passion for Geography and the ability to inspire curiosity about the world. You will be an effective practitioner with experience of planning, assessment and raising attainment, and the ability to work collaboratively and support others. A commitment to high expectations, inclusion and safeguarding is essential. You will hold a degree in Geography or a related subject and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
