Heron Foods is one of the UK's fastest-growing food retailers with over 340 stores across England and Wales. As part of the B&M retail group, we are expanding with new store openings planned month-by-month.
We are looking for an experienced and forward-thinking IT Lead Infrastructure Engineer to join our Store Support Centre in Melton. This senior role is central to designing, maintaining, and optimising the core infrastructure that keeps our business running across hundreds of locations. You will mentor a team of infrastructure professionals, work closely with IT leadership, and take ownership of delivering secure, scalable, and high-performing systems. Key Responsibilities:- Mentor and support the IT infrastructure team.
- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise infrastructure across servers, networking, storage, and cloud platforms.
- Ensure robust standards, security, and best practices are followed.
- Oversee monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of systems and networks.
- Deliver infrastructure projects aligned with business needs.
- Manage virtualisation and cloud environments (Azure, AWS, VMware).
- Maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Evaluate new technologies and manage vendor relationships.
- Produce clear technical documentation and ensure compliance.
- Significant experience in a senior IT infrastructure role within a complex environment.
- Strong technical expertise across Windows/Linux servers, networking, storage, and virtualisation.
- Cloud experience (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
- Strong understanding of security and compliance.
- Experience with automation and Infrastructure as Code tools.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Relevant degree or equivalent experience; industry certifications highly desirable.
- ITIL 4 Foundation.
