The role of a Driver for Heron Foods is divided into 2 areas; professional standards of driving along with the loading and unloading of deliveries meaning it’s more physical than most Driver jobs. But because we value our hardworking Drivers, we provide a range of benefits that you wouldn’t find at other companies. This includes the provision of fully funded CPC training delivered within your normal working hours.
Applicants must hold a current Class 1 C+E driving license and have a minimum of 6 months of Class 1 driving experience. This position operates on a \’5 on 3 off\’ shift pattern which includes regular weekend work, shift starts at 4am.

Tasks and Responsibilities of the HGV Class 1 Driver include
- Making multi drop deliveries and assisting in the unloading of products and cages into stores
- Collecting stock and delivering to site
- Collection of empty pallets, steel and cardboard from stores and returning to the distribution centre
- Completion of daily vehicle checks and maintaining working order of company vehicles and any equipment on-board
- Reporting of any vehicle damage or faults
Successful HGV Class 1 Drivers will have the following
- Full and current Class 1 C+E driving license
- Must hold a DIGI tacho card
- Good knowledge of driving laws and regulations
- Able to communicate and clearly follow written and verbal instructions, able to lift and manoeuvre medium to heavy loads
