The Gut Stuff exists because gut health should be for everyone, not just the wellness-obsessed, not just those who can afford it, but everyone. We’ve spent years dismantling the confusion, killing the stigma, and making gut health genuinely accessible: from a TV show watched by over 6 million people to products now everywhere from Tesco to Tik Tok. Having recently joined the Hero portfolio, we’re at an inflection point, scaling fast, backed by serious support, and building the team that’ll take us to the next level.
About Hero: Hero is a global food company, founded in 1886 in Switzerland, specialising in branded nutritional products across the Growing Up and Adult categories. With a portfolio of trusted brands like Organix, Deliciously Ella, Goodies, Corny, Semper, and Beech-Nut, Hero delivers high-quality, great-tasting food rooted in natural goodness. With 4,000 team members worldwide, the company is driven by strong values, high performance, and a commitment to doing the right thing - always, without compromise.
About the Role: We’re looking for a commercially hungry National Account Manager to join our growing sales team and help us get The Gut Stuff into more baskets, more retailers and more hands. It’s a proper mix of growing what we’ve got and going after what we haven’t. You’ll own and grow a portfolio of key retail accounts (Boots and Ocado), while playing a big role in opening new doors and winning new business. And there’s plenty to go after. With a gutsy, bold NPD pipeline stretching across multiple categories, the opportunity is huge.
Account Management:
- Responsible for delivering revenue targets across Ocado and Boots, accelerating growth through securing incremental opportunities (increased distribution, range extensions, NP listings & secondary feature).
- Own the external relationship with the buyer, building on our strategic partnership to enable us to supercharge our growth.
- Full ownership of P&L.
- Agree and execute annual JBPs, ensuring promotional plans, pricing strategy, and trade investment deliver profitable, incremental growth.
- Agree impactful activations and in-store marketing campaigns tailored to each retailer, collaborating with the TGS marketing team to ensure flawless execution.
- Identify and act on commercial opportunities using EPOS data and competitor analysis to drive performance across multiple categories.
- Prepare and deliver regular account reviews, forecasts and performance reports for internal stakeholders and retail partners, sharing insights and performance to shape business decisions.
- Partner closely with supply chain to ensure accurate forecasting and production planning aligned to customer activity.
- Support Head of Sales with account admin for Tesco e.g. store visits, competitor analysis, pulling and analysing data, promo submissions & general account administration.
New Business Development:
- Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities across grocery and retail, working closely with the Head of Sales to secure distribution for NPD in new accounts.
- Build relationships with buyers at target retailers where we don't yet have listings.
- Develop compelling sell-in stories, category rationale, and pitch materials to win new listings.
- Build and execute robust launch plans, working closely with marketing and supply to ensure new business wins are set up for a successful launch and ongoing growth.
- Track and report progress of NPD against targets, using EPOS to optimize plans and strategy to accelerate growth.
Essential Experience:
- Proven experience in a National Account Manager (or equivalent) role within FMCG, ideally in food, drink, or health/wellness categories.
- Track record of managing and growing revenue in UK Retail landscape.
- Demonstrable success winning new accounts and securing listings of NPD/range extensions.
- Strong commercial acumen - comfortable owning P&L, promotional planning, and forecasting.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Confident negotiator with experience presenting to and influencing buyers.
- Experience building and delivering joint business plans.
- Excellent relationship-building skills, both internally and externally.
- A proactive, organised self-starter who is comfortable balancing the demands of managing existing accounts with proactively hunting new business.
- Collaborative, supportive, and willing to contribute to a strong, positive team culture.
- Flexible and adaptable to a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Strong analytical skills - comfortable using EPOS to inform decisions.
Desirable:
- Experience working with Big 4 Grocers.
- Experience in a high-growth or challenger brand environment.
- Experience launching NPD from concept through to retail listing.
