At Hernshead Recruitment, we specialise in Advanced Engineering & Automation teams. We are currently looking for an experienced Consultant to join us in our US recruitment team. If you are currently working in recruitment, you know the job. You don’t need us to explain the sales cycle to you. What you need to know is why moving your desk to Hernshead is the smartest financial and career move you can make.
The Hernshead Difference:
Tom Johnson founded Hernshead in 2019 with the belief that partnerships are more powerful than placements. Since then, we have grown to a turnover exceeding £3.5m and are recognised as one of the fastest-growing firms in the UK. However, for an experienced consultant, the most important stats are these:
- You Will Bill More Here: Consultants joining us from other businesses are averaging over 3 years of service (and growing). Critically, every single one of them has billed more here than at their previous agency.
- Unrivaled Earnings: Our commission payout for the year so far averages 25% of billings.
- Real Equity: We operate a Share Scheme with a defined exit plan. All consultants are on track to receive a minimum 5-figure sum in 6 years on top of their commission.
The Opportunity: High Fees & Global Reach
This is a sales-focused desk where resilience and drive are key. You will be targeting the US market, where fees are typically four to five times higher than in the UK. You won't be starting from scratch; you will be joining a business with deep roots in the global market. We are currently delivering work across Houston, Chicago, Michigan, North Carolina, and Mississippi, alongside our European hubs in Spain, Italy, Austria, Germany, and the Netherlands.
The Role & Lifestyle
This role requires US working hours to align with our client base:
- Monday to Thursday: 10:00 am – 8:00 pm
- Friday: 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
You’ll be working alongside existing US and European-focused recruiters to source, interview, and manage candidates while identifying and winning new clients. We set high standards, but we also value balance and culture. Alongside an above-average commission scheme, early Friday finishes, and professional qualifications, you’ll also get high-end dining experiences, 2 holidays per year, and travel opportunities to the US.
Our Values: Community Impact
We are proud winners of the Community Impact Award at the REC awards 2025. We believe in putting our money where our mouth is. We are heavily focused on our work with the homeless and supporting young people entering our industries and we expect all consultants to play a part in this.
Job Responsibilities:
- Identifying and managing client relationships, including strategic sales outreach and client meetings.
- Building robust candidate pipelines and managing projects to identify top-tier engineering talent.
- Taking candidates to market and managing the full interview process.
- Supporting clients with onboarding and retention strategies.
Experience Required:
- Previous Agency Experience: We are looking for recruiters with a track record (ideally in Engineering or Technical markets, though not essential).
- Commercial Mindset: A resilient approach with the ability to handle a longer, high-value sales cycle.
- Ambition: The drive to succeed in a competitive environment where the standards—and rewards—are high.
If you are an experienced recruiter looking for a platform where you are trusted to perform, supported by a Share Scheme, and rewarded with fees 5x the UK average, we want to hear from you.
