A national engineering company is seeking to employ an Installation & Commissioning Engineer with site experience to lead small installation teams and deliver conveying systems projects across the UK, primarily within healthcare environments.

Core working hours consist of 8 hours on site between 07:00 and 18:00, Monday to Thursday, and 7 hours on Friday within the same core period (total 39 hours per week). Travel time outside of core hours is paid door to door.

The Installation & Commissioning Engineer will be field-based and responsible for leading a small team on site. This includes installing and commissioning equipment, managing site activities, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. Most work takes place in healthcare or construction environments.

The role is predominantly mechanical but requires strong electrical knowledge, logical fault-finding skills, and the ability to make on-the-spot decisions to resolve site challenges. Leadership skills and previous experience managing or mentoring other engineers or technicians are essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and coordinate small installation teams to complete electro/mechanical installations
  • Ensure installations are completed to schedule, including handover, acceptance testing, and user training
  • Interpret and apply construction drawings and schematics on site
  • Maintain strong communication with customers, site staff, and management
  • Use company software systems for reporting, scheduling, and project tracking
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and site-specific requirements
  • Take a proactive, decisive approach to problem-solving on site

This is a nationally based role, and candidates must be willing to work away from home at customer sites across the UK, Monday to Friday. Single-occupancy hotel accommodation will be provided. While candidates based in or around the Midlands are preferred, travel nationwide is required.

Experience & Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2-3 years' site-based electro/mechanical experience within construction or industrial installations
  • Proven experience leading or supervising small teams on site
  • A recognised electro/mechanical qualification is advantageous
  • Health & Safety certifications (CCNSG, CSCS, SSSTS) are beneficial; training can be provided
