Delivery Consultant (Resourcer) — US Defence
Six months into recruitment, you've probably worked something out: the part of the job you're actually good at — and enjoy — is the candidate side. Finding people nobody else can find, running a tight process, getting the placement over the line. What you could live without is cold BD and chasing new logos. This role is built around that.
The role:
- We're embedding a dedicated Delivery Consultant with one of our key US Defence clients — a genuine partnership account with a consistent pipeline of engineering roles to fill. No business development. Your job is pure delivery, done to a high standard:
- Source and headhunt engineering talent across niche defence and advanced technology markets
- Qualify candidates properly — the roles are technical and the bar is high
- Run the full interview process end to end, from first call to offer and onboarding
- Build deep knowledge of one client's teams, technologies and hiring managers, rather than spreading yourself across twenty accounts
- Keep candidates warm, informed and moving — in this market, speed and communication win
Because you're embedded with a single strategic client, you'll get something most resourcers don't: a seat close to the client, real influence over how they hire, and the chance to become the person they trust to deliver.
Why Hernshead:
Tom Johnson founded Hernshead in 2019 on the belief that partnerships are more powerful than placements — and this role is that belief in action. We've since grown to nearly £5m turnover, earned a place on the Fast Growth 50, and won multiple awards including the Community Impact Award at the REC Awards 2025.
What that means for you:
- Delivery is valued here, not treated as second class. You'll be rewarded for placements and performance, with a clear commission scheme and a path to grow — whether that's into senior delivery, account management or a full 360 desk later on.
- Real equity, not just commission. We operate a Share Scheme with a defined exit plan — every consultant is on track for a minimum five-figure sum within six years.
- People stay. Average length of service across the business is over three years. You'll be learning from a team that includes £500k+ billers, in a company that's scaling rather than standing still.
The hours:
- Monday to Thursday: 10:00am – 8:00pm
- Friday: 10:00am – 3:00pm
Early Friday finishes, funded professional qualifications, high-end dining experiences and two company holidays a year.
Who we're looking for:
- Around 6 months' recruitment experience — agency or in-house, any sector. You know the basics of sourcing and running a process; we'll teach you the defence and engineering side.
- Detail-oriented and organised: embedded delivery means nothing slips.
- Naturally curious about people and technology — you enjoy digging into what a role really needs and who could genuinely do it.
- Professional and personable enough to represent Hernshead inside a key client relationship every day.
If you're early in your recruitment career and want to get exceptional at delivery — on an account that matters, in a market with real depth — we'd like to hear from you.
