About this Position: Lead Designer – CMF is a senior automotive design role focused on developing innovative Colour, Materials and Finish solutions for future vehicle programmes. The position sits within a creative design function and will support the development of high-quality concepts that combine innovation, craftsmanship, sustainability and production feasibility. Working closely with internal teams, suppliers and external partners, the role will involve shaping design proposals across 2D, 3D and digital formats, supporting projects from early concept through to development, and presenting ideas to senior stakeholders. This is a strong opportunity for an experienced CMF, Colour and Trim or automotive designer to take ownership of design activity within a collaborative, future-focused environment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead CMF design development for future product programmes
- Create innovative concepts across 2D, 3D and digital formats
- Work closely with internal teams, suppliers and external partners
- Present design ideas and proposals to senior stakeholders
- Carry out research, benchmarking and trend analysis
- Explore new materials, finishes and design approaches
- Support projects from concept through to development
- Ensure design proposals consider feasibility, quality and production requirements
- Contribute to innovation and sustainability-focused design activity
- Support supplier meetings, presentations and project reviews
Experience Required:
- Experience in CMF, Colour and Trim or automotive design
- Strong understanding of materials, finishes and manufacturing processes
- Degree in Product, Interior, Fashion Design or similar, or equivalent experience
- Confident using Photoshop, with VRED or 3D CAD knowledge beneficial
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Experience leading or delivering design projects
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams and external partners
- Automotive OEM or supplier experience preferred
- Strong creative thinking and problem-solving ability
