We are working with an innovative and forward-thinking engineering organisation tackling complex technological challenges with real-world impact. They are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to take ownership of electrical design and on-site implementation for manufacturing process equipment. This role plays a key part in ensuring equipment meets the highest standards of safety, compliance, and performance. The position offers exposure to cutting-edge projects with opportunities to contribute across areas such as control systems, PLC development, instrumentation, and functional safety.
Job Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality electrical design packages from concept through to manufacturing, testing, and commissioning, including modifications to existing systems.
- Ensure safe and compliant on-site electrical installations, including contractor and supplier management and sign-off of electrical works.
- Support engineering design reviews and risk assessments such as HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, SIL, and FMEA.
- Act as an Authorised Person for Electrical Systems (where trained), ensuring safe systems of work and isolation procedures.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including Controls, Projects, and Process Engineering to support efficient system and process design.
- Set and maintain standards for on-site electrical installations, including wiring practices, labelling, and documentation.
- Carry out site-based electrical engineering activities such as surveys, system modifications, and functional testing.
- Apply engineering calculations and analysis to validate electrical system performance and design outcomes.
- Support knowledge sharing and development by mentoring and training team members in electrical engineering principles.
Experience Required:
- Proven experience delivering electrical design solutions for machinery or plant equipment from concept through to delivery, with a strong focus on safety.
- Experience using electrical design software such as EPlan, AutoCAD Electrical, or SolidWorks Electrical.
- Strong understanding of relevant standards such as EN 60204 and BS 7671.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline) or equivalent practical experience.
- Ability to perform engineering calculations relating to electrical systems (power, heat, flow, etc.).
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across teams and stakeholders.
- Proactive, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple tasks in demanding environments.
Desirable:
- Experience with PLC programming, control systems, instrumentation, or industrial/chemical equipment design.
- Familiarity with standards such as ISO 12100, IEC 60364, ISO 13850.
- Experience working in industrial or process environments (e.g. chemical plants).
- Knowledge of Siemens PLCs and associated hardware.
- Functional Safety certification (e.g. TÜV or equivalent).
- Experience as an Authorised Person (LV).
- Awareness of relevant HSE legislation.
- Additional certifications such as First Aid, CPR, or Fire Warden training.
