In this role, you will work closely with the Store Manager to ensure the efficient and effective front-of-house operations of the store, adhering to the company’s operating guidelines and standards. You will also act as the Store Manager’s deputy in their absence. This position requires the ability and sensitivity to seamlessly manage operational aspects of the business, particularly when collaborating with or stepping in for other Department Managers.
Managing the Team
- Leading by example, give priority to the shop floor and ensure a warm atmosphere in which to welcome our customers.
- Provide direction, feedback, and support to the team, allowing them to deliver service standards of the highest quality.
- Undertake and monitor the progress of new staff members in the store, ensuring they receive proper induction to the business.
- Support temporary staff to maintain service levels our customers deserve.
- Ensure the team is properly trained, particularly on in-store procedures, product knowledge, handling, and presentation techniques.
- Work with the Store Manager and Administration Manager to ensure appropriate cover on the shop floor, including during holidays and peak periods.
Customer Relations Management
- Support the business in developing new client relations.
- Work with the Store Manager to understand and maintain accurate client database information, following up on duplicates.
- Support the team in delivering exceptional service to all clients.
- Guide the team to ensure clients are well looked after and encouraged to return.
- Liaise with the Press department for Hermès events.
- Coordinate with the Client Experience Manager on CRM initiatives.
- Manage customer complaints proactively and promptly.
- Achieve sales targets aligned with set objectives.
- Encourage and support team members in reaching their goals.
- Provide guidance on sales tools such as HPad, reservations, customer orders, pre-selling, Click in store, My Folio, etc.
Store Operations
- Handle keyholding duties, including opening and closing the store when necessary.
- Manage financial compliance, including daily banking and cash reconciliation.
- Ensure the store and team are presented to Hermès standards, keeping the shop floor safe and unobstructed.
- Support security activities within company guidelines to protect stock and property.
- Assist during stocktakes and cycle counts with the Stock Team.
- Work with the Store Manager and back-office team to reduce administrative duties, allowing sales staff to focus on clients (Smart Ops).
- Perform as second in command in a fast-paced store environment.
- Be organized, flexible, reliable, and a good team player with the ability to work autonomously.
- Maintain professionalism and work efficiently under pressure.
