Overview

We are seeking a talented and experienced blockchain researcher to join our trading firm in a full time role. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in one of the following: EVM blockchains, EVM Layer 2 networks, and non-EVM Layer 1s. Additionally, the candidate should have the ability to quickly learn new blockchain networks and adapt to new environments, work well under pressure, and have flexibility in working hours. The purpose of this role is to leverage strong on-chain experiences to be part of an alpha generating team for a premier, crypto-native hedge fund.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to urgent market events to provide accurate and timely analysis of on-chain activities to inform trading decisions
  • Detailed experience with token supply analysis with a focus on token genesis, wallet attribution and insider activities
  • Monitoring of onchain activity and alerts for potential tradeable events
  • Effectively communicate complicated blockchain activities to the trading and research teams
  • Collaborate with the on-chain engineering team to acquire blockchain data for alpha research
  • Obtain a thorough understanding of the existing Hermeneutic on-chain analytics frameworks and integrate with the existing trading, research, and data teams
  • Use their understanding of blockchain networks and market events to aid in the improvement and expansion of current analytics frameworks and methods
  • Continually evaluate new analysis platforms and publicly available research to aid in thematic market research
  • Use their on-chain analytics experience to evaluate non-EVM blockchains when trading opportunities are presented
  • Use their knowledge of onchain activity and market dynamics to source trade ideas

Requirements

Must Haves

  • 3+ years of experience in blockchain analysis and cryptocurrency research
  • Demonstratable project experiences with in-depth research on attribution and identification of on-chain activities
  • Familiarity with the various EVM and non-EVM blockchain mechanisms, explorers, and analytics platforms such as Akham, Ethscan, Solscan etc.
  • Familiarity with SQL basics and data visualization tools via Flipside and Dune
  • Proficiency in:
    • Entity and address attribution
    • Transaction graph flow analysis
    • Monitoring of consensus mechanisms and staking dynamics and blockchain infrastructure

Nice to Have

  • Maintain a basic understanding of the non-EVM blockchain features and analytics platforms
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Work effectively under strong pressure to meet tight deadlines and handle multiple tasks
  • Be flexible in working hours to integrate with the existing trading, research, and engineering teams
  • Solid background and familiarity with onchain history and related market events

  • 1st Round with Sr On-Chain Researcher – Explaining the opportunity, the role, initial technical and cultural screening
  • Technical screening: ability to navigate blockchains, sense opportunity, use blockchain analysis tools / programming ability if any
  • Cultural screening: with on-chain team / crypto nativity
  • 2nd Round with Sr On-Chain Researcher – Additional technical, opportunity, cultural screening
  • Screening slightly more focused on DeFi trading experience / opportunity sensing
  • On-Chain Assessment & Presentation to Team – Your presentation may be followed by interviews with various team members
  • Additional rounds may be conducted as necessary with other team members or our partners
