Location - Portal Mill, Melksham
Job summary
- Minimum 40-hour week Monday - Friday
- Some weekend work required
- Rotating Shift Pattern – between 0530hrs & 1400hrs/1400hrs & 2230hrs – or as the business requires
Specific responsibilities
- Directing incoming equipment and vehicles to correct loading/parking bays.
- Liaising with warehouse and planning personnel to ensure correct equipment is positioned on bays, ensuring a flow is maintained, informing the transport supervisor when equipment shortage will affect loading.
- Ensuring trailers are legally compliant, positioning equipment on and off bays as required to ensure the yard is in a safe and organised condition.
- Follow correct VOR process, liaising with the transport supervisor.
- Assisting with any yard/trailer related queries.
- Follow site and business Health and Safety systems of work.
- Carry out additional operational duties as required.

- C+E licence or Yard Shunting Qualification
- Calm under pressure
- Able to respond positively to change and adapt to meet new challenges
- Familiar and comfortable with using computers
Desirable
- Digital tachograph card
- Driver qualification card (CPC)
- No more than 6 points on licence for minor offences
- Working knowledge of drivers’ hours and the working time directive
- Drawbar experience preferred but not essential.
