We’re one of New Zealand’s leading aged care providers, operating across more than 40 sites and employing thousands of dedicated professionals. Our purpose is simple: to care for and empower our residents in environments where safety, respect, and wellbeing come first.

At Heritage Lifecare, we believe that safety is more than compliance — it’s a culture . That’s why we’re looking for a Health and Safety Manager who can lead with vision, think strategically , and still isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and get things done. If you\’re ready to build a safer future while making a real impact on people’s lives every day — this is your moment.

About the role:

This is not a desk-bound compliance job. As our Health and Safety Manager, you’ll drive strategy from the top while being embedded in the reality of our day-to-day operations. Reporting directly to the Chief People Officer you’ll develop and deliver bold safety initiatives that protect and empower our people — from clinical staff to kitchen teams, from boardroom to care floor.

  • Strategic Leadership: Design and champion a health and safety roadmap that aligns with business goals and sector expectations. You’ll shape how we manage risk and safety at scale.
  • Operational Execution: From fall prevention to infection control — you’ll dig in, support front-line leaders, and ensure our people have the tools and confidence to work safely.
  • Culture Shaping: Build a culture where safety is seen, heard, and lived every day. Lead by example, inspire ownership, and bring clarity through consistent communication and coaching.
  • System Oversight: Lead a robust audit, incident management, and reporting framework. Your insights will guide executive decision-making and continuous improvement.

About you:

  • A relevant qualification in Health and Safety (e.g., Diploma or Degree in Occupational H&S).
  • 5+ years’ experience in health and safety, including leadership roles in regulated sectors like aged care, healthcare, or manufacturing.
  • Sharp knowledge of NZ H&S legislation and how to turn compliance into action.
  • A powerful mix of strategic thinking and hands-on delivery — you’re just as comfortable building frameworks as you are walking the floor.
  • The people skills to coach, influence, and inspire at every level.
  • Wellington is preferred, but open for Auckland and Christchurch location

Why Us:

We’re big enough to offer scope and scale — yet nimble enough for your voice and impact to be seen immediately. You’ll have the ear of leadership , the freedom to innovate , and the support to make your mark
