The Waking Night-Care Assistant role at Heritage Healthcare involves providing high-quality healthcare and support to our clients during night hours. The main aim is to ensure clients' safety, well-being, and comfort throughout the night. This is an essential position that plays a crucial part in the continuum of care, contributing to the overall patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert assistance to the elderly, individuals with disabilities, convalescents, or other patients who require help during night-time.
- Deliver direct personal care including dressing, washing, feeding and other daily living activities according to care plans or under direction of nursing staff.
- Ensure the safety of our clients by closely monitoring their health conditions and activities during the night.
- Administer medication based on the provided care plan and record any changes in clients' health condition.
- Handle emergencies such as medical, fire, and security efficiently and in accordance with established protocol.
- Offer reassurance and companionship during the night, responding to any needs or concerns promptly and compassionately.
- Perform light housekeeping duties such as tidying common areas and clients' rooms, laundry, and preparing light meals.
- Promote dignity, privacy, and independence of all the clients at all times.
Qualifications
- A minimum of NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent is required.
- Previous experience in a similar role within a care home, home care, or any other health facility is preferred.
- Understanding of Health and Safety regulations, care standards and safeguarding principles.
- Sound judgement, initiative, and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional teamwork skills and a compassionate nature.
- A clean DBS record and valid driver's license are mandatory.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
