Role context

Since its launch into the UK in 2005, Thomann-Hanry has grown significantly offering an unparalleled cleaning and restoration service, winning new clients and awards along the way. The business continues to expand its portfolio of works and needs to increase its team and resource to enable the company to deliver the best possible service to all clients on works being undertaken.

This role offers the right candidate a great opportunity to be part of the next phase in the Thomann-Hanry journey. Working on some of the most iconic buildings across the UK and beyond. This role will be key in ensuring surveys are undertaken and reported to the highest standards.

Role purpose

This role will provide the lead on a range of technical and professional surveying services whilst completing and overseeing, multiple surveys for Thomann-Hanry. Exceptional report writing skills will be required to clearly highlight defects and red items which will allow customers to understand the repairs required. All surveys conducted will be to the highest standards whilst respecting architectural and heritage values, ensuring the maintenance requirements of the buildings are met, and to maintain building integrity and safety standards. This role will give the successful candidate, access to some of the most historically and architecturally significant buildings around, previous work has included The Bank of England (London), Hotel Principe di Savoia (Milan), and Gresham Hotel (Dublin).

Key responsibilities

  • Provide building surveying services considering the need to protect architecture and heritage. Identify and present survey findings to clients. Survey programming ensuring planning of resources including people and machinery. Organise and lead meetings both internally and externally, and make sure that complete records of all conversations and activities are produced. Ensure weekly reviews of progress, financial resources, and forward planning, are conducted. Ensure effective liaison with the Health & Safety team to deliver site and work specific RAMS. Liaising with surveyors, architects, and clients. Ensuring all enquiries are responded to in a timely manner and in line with corporate response times. Meeting potential clients and fostering relationships

Essential skills and experience

  • MRICS qualified, with at least five years relevant post-qualification experience.
  • Proven knowledge and experience in historic buildings, materials and conservation methods. Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), and the ability to communicate with a wide range of people. Highly developed interpersonal skills, with ability to work proactively with people at all levels. Well-developed negotiation skills, to re-negotiate deadlines and resources without creating unacceptable risk. Excellent team player with an outgoing and friendly manner. Excellent chairing skills to ensure output led and effective meetings. Ability to work well under pressure in a methodical and organised manner. High level organisation skills with the ability to work independently and prioritise workload to meet fixed deadlines. Exceptional attention to detail.
