Purpose of Role

Working within the National Robotarium Engineering team, we seek to appoint a competent, flexible, and driven Lab Manager to oversee and organize the daily operations of the National Robotarium robotic laboratories.

Working with the Head of Robotics, the facility manager, and the engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe, efficient, and productive work environment for robotic development. This role involves maintaining assets, organizing inventory, ensuring safety compliance, and actively supporting electronic construction, troubleshooting, and repair.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Organize, set up, and maintain the National Robotarium laboratory facilities
  • Provide training and assistance to the engineering team and collaborators
  • Maintain health and safety standards for laboratory users and visitors
  • Ensure the laboratories and workshops are organized, neat, and safe
  • Manage inventory and oversee repair or replacement of equipment
  • Supervise technical support staff and students using the labs
  • Assist with demonstrations and events
  • Support electrical and electronic development activities
  • Research and recommend improvements for laboratory facilities and equipment
  • Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams
  • Represent the National Robotarium in various forums
  • Coordinate with staff and clients

Essential & Desirable Criteria

  • MSc in Engineering or related fields with 3+ years of lab support management experience
  • Experience in robotics or electronic systems
  • Ability to work independently, lead, and collaborate in teams
  • Strong research, analytical, and presentation skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work efficiently in a dynamic environment
  • Experience in collaborative projects and stakeholder engagement
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of legal, statutory, and safety regulations
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities

  • Experience with analog/digital circuits, embedded systems, and 3D printers
