Overview of the Role: We are looking for a talented and highly motivated individual to join our learning and teaching activities in the Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering discipline of the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences (EPS). You will deliver, assess and support teaching undergraduate courses in Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering as part of our Joint Educational Programmes in China, Kazakhstan and others. You will be based at our Edinburgh campus, collaborating with colleagues at our overseas campuses in Dubai and Malaysia. Even though the role holder will focus on the Joint Educational Programmes, the role holder will also be expected to contribute to deliver courses in Edinburgh, undertake coursework and exam marking and perform administration duties associated with these courses. The role holder will be expected to travel to China/Kazakhstan to deliver and support teaching.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the teaching (lectures, tutorials, workshops and laboratories) covering topics in the area of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering.
- Supporting the assigned courses by carrying out assessment and moderation of coursework and examination marking as required.
- Liaising with relevant academic staff in EPS and carrying out course‑related administrative tasks as required.
Education, Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
- A good first degree in Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering or closely related discipline.
- Previous experience of teaching in Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering or closely related discipline.
- Experience of organising course material and/or delivery in Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering.
- Demonstrated initiative in teaching and scholarship.
- Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues across our campuses and international partners.
- International travel will be required.
- Excellent team working, communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work to deadlines.
Desirable:
- A higher degree (MSc/PhD) in Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering or cognate discipline.
- Experience with transnational educational programmes.
- Experience in web‑based learning, e.g. virtual learning environments such as Canvas, and other educational technology.
- Appropriate academic or industrial experience in an Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering environment.
- Evidence of engagement with industry.
