We are supporting a high-profile organisation operating within the UK's energy sector who are looking to appoint a Professional Support Lawyer / Legal Counsel into their growing in-house legal team.
This is a broad and slightly different in-house legal role which would particularly suit a lawyer with experience across professional support, knowledge management, legal training or assurance.
Working across the legal function and wider business, the role will focus on ensuring complex legal, contractual and regulatory requirements are understood and translated into practical processes, guidance and training.
The role
Responsibilities will include:
- Developing and embedding legal processes and governance frameworks across the business.
- Translating complex legal and contractual requirements into practical guidance.
- Designing and delivering training to the legal team and wider business.
- Developing assurance activities to monitor and demonstrate compliance.
- Creating and maintaining legal know-how, guidance and supporting materials.
- Owning and continuously improving legal team processes, systems and ways of working.
- Working closely with lawyers and other stakeholders to identify areas of legal risk and improve how these are managed.
- Horizon scanning and communicating relevant legal and regulatory developments.
- Supporting relationships with external law firms where required.
About you
You will be a qualified lawyer in England & Wales or an equivalent common law jurisdiction with strong legal and commercial experience.
The role would particularly suit someone currently working as a Professional Support Lawyer, Knowledge Lawyer or Legal Counsel who enjoys the training, knowledge, governance and process aspects of their position.
You will be comfortable taking complex legal issues and turning them into clear, practical guidance for different audiences, with strong communication, training and stakeholder management skills.
Experience within a regulated organisation would be beneficial but is not essential.
