We are working on an exciting opportunity with a major UK infrastructure organisation seeking to appoint a Compliance Officer to join its Legal Services team. This is a newly created position, reflecting continued investment in the organisation's corporate compliance function and offering the opportunity to play a key role in shaping and embedding compliance frameworks across a complex, highly regulated business. This is not a financial crime or customer compliance role. Instead, we are looking for somebody who enjoys interpreting legislation, developing practical policies and procedures, and working with senior stakeholders to ensure compliance is embedded across the organisation.
The successful candidate will become involved in a broad range of work, including:
- Developing and maintaining corporate compliance policies and procedures
- Supporting the design and continuous improvement of compliance frameworks
- Interpreting new legislation and translating regulatory requirements into practical business processes
- Compliance monitoring and internal assurance activities
- Advising senior stakeholders on compliance obligations and risk
- Delivering compliance training and awareness programmes
- Supporting the implementation of new regulatory initiatives across the business
We're interested in speaking with individuals who have experience within an internal corporate compliance function, ideally gained within sectors such as utilities, energy, infrastructure, transport, engineering, defence, mining or other highly regulated environments. You might currently work in compliance, audit, assurance, legal or governance, but you will have experience developing compliance frameworks rather than solely operating within established processes.
The successful candidate is likely to possess:
- Around 5 or more years' relevant compliance experience
- Strong knowledge of corporate compliance and governance
- The ability to interpret legislation and provide pragmatic commercial advice
- Experience engaging with senior stakeholders across a business
- Excellent communication and influencing skills
- Project management or change implementation experience would be advantageous
This role offers the opportunity to join a collaborative legal and compliance team where you will enjoy broad exposure, genuine autonomy and the ability to influence how compliance is delivered across a nationally significant organisation.
