Senior Legal Counsel

12–14 Month Fixed-Term Contract

Heriot Brown is supporting a high-growth international technology company in the search for a Senior Legal Counsel to join its legal team on a 12–14 month fixed-term contract.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a scaling tech business with a global footprint, supporting a fast-moving commercial organisation operating across multiple jurisdictions.

The role will suit a commercially minded in-house lawyer who enjoys working closely with the business, taking ownership of matters, and operating across a wide range of legal disciplines.

The Role

Joining a small but high-performing legal team, this role will play a key part in supporting the business across a broad range of legal matters. While the role carries seniority, the successful candidate will also be comfortable remaining hands-on and involved in the day-to-day legal workload.

The position offers exposure across commercial contracts, corporate governance, privacy, compliance and technology-related matters, working closely with stakeholders across the organisation.

This is a particularly interesting opportunity for someone who enjoys working in high-growth technology environments, where the legal team operates at the centre of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements, including customer contracts, licensing agreements and MSAs
  • Advising the business on day-to-day commercial legal matters
  • Supporting on corporate governance and company secretarial matters
  • Providing guidance on privacy and compliance issues where required
  • Advising on technology and IP-related matters
  • Supporting the business as it continues to expand internationally
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders to deliver pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice

The role offers exposure across a broad range of legal areas within a fast-moving and innovative technology business.

About You

  • 6+ years’ PQE
  • Prior in-house experience, ideally within a commercial legal team
  • Strong experience negotiating commercial contracts
  • Exposure to privacy/data protection matters
  • Some experience of corporate governance or company secretarial work
  • A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach to legal issues
  • The confidence to operate autonomously in a small legal team
  • Experience within the technology sector would be advantageous, although not essential.
