A Manchester-based property developer is seeking to appoint a Senior Construction Lawyer to play a key role in supporting a growing portfolio of complex commercial and mixed-use developments across the UK. This is a senior, visible position offering genuine influence over project strategy, risk management, and delivery, working closely with development, commercial, and executive stakeholders.

The Role

  • Leading the drafting, review, and negotiation of construction documentation (Design & Build and Construction Management), professional appointments, collateral warranties, and ancillary agreements.
  • Advising on procurement strategy, contractual structures, and risk allocation at pre-contract stage.
  • Supporting live projects through delivery, including variations, extensions of time, claims strategy, and dispute avoidance.
  • Acting as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders, providing clear, pragmatic guidance aligned with commercial objectives.
  • Managing external counsel and consultants, ensuring quality, efficiency, and cost control.
  • Driving improvements to templates, processes, and playbooks as the development pipeline scales.

About You

  • Qualified solicitor in England & Wales (or common law jurisdiction) with 7+ years’ PQE.
  • Strong construction law background gained in private practice and/or in-house within a developer, contractor, or major projects environment.
  • Deep experience with construction contracts and construction risk management.
  • Commercially minded, solutions-focused, and confident operating at senior stakeholder level.
  • Comfortable taking ownership of matters and operating with a high degree of autonomy.
