Heriot Brown is supporting a large, well-established insurance group on a new opportunity for an experienced insurance lawyer to join their in-house team in a senior, business-facing role. They’re looking for someone who understands how insurance products reach the market particularly through broker relationships, schemes, and delegated authority arrangements.
The role involves:
- Supporting distribution teams on broker-led deals, schemes and delegated authority arrangements
- Drafting and negotiating distribution and placement agreements
- Advising on legal and regulatory risk tied to new propositions or partnerships
- Playing a leading role in projects that affect the wider portfolio
- Guiding junior lawyers (where needed) and helping shape standards across the team
- Managing external counsel in a cost-effective way
- Keeping the business informed of relevant legal or regulatory developments
You’ll be the person the commercial teams turn to when assessing how a new relationship, arrangement or product structure should work.
About you:
- Solid experience as an insurance lawyer, either in-house or from a specialist practice
- Knowledge of broker distribution, schemes, delegated authority or related product routes
- Confidence dealing with senior business stakeholders
- A pragmatic, commercial approach able to simplify risk and move decisions forward
- Strong communication skills and the ability to influence across teams
