Employing Organisation Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce (HWCC) is a member‑led, not for profit organisation working to support local business communities and our large network of members.
Role Summary
- Salary: £35,000 per annum (full‑time equivalent)
- Location: Remote with attendance required in the office (Malvern Hills Science Park)
- Hours: 37 hours per week
- Reporting to: Worcestershire Growth Hub Manager
- Contract: Fixed term until 31 March 2027
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, prepare and implement a business engagement delivery plan for the specific locality, linked to the WLEP Plan for Growth and the overarching Growth Hub Business engagement plan.
- Research, identify and engage micro businesses and key accounts (businesses with 0‑4 employees) in the allocated locality, ensuring a portfolio of account‑managed businesses, new leads, potential high‑growth, and FDI businesses.
- Engage with senior contacts at identified businesses to provide high‑level account management support, helping the business navigate and access local, regional and national support programmes.
- Maintain an up‑to‑date understanding of local, regional and national business support offers.
- Signpost and refer businesses on sector‑specific or general business issues, supporting their journey through the local business support landscape.
- Keep accurate records of engagement activity in CRM (Evolutive), ensuring timely completion of company data and a minimum of two years of financial and workforce history.
- Support the preparation of regular locality reports for stakeholders, detailing key business visits and summary of activity.
- Identify and develop businesses for case‑studies on a regular basis.
- Collaborate, coordinate and work in cooperation with the wider Growth Hub Team.
- Maintain key stakeholder relationships with local, regional and national stakeholders, including DBT, Local Authorities, Universities, Innovate UK, locally funded business support programmes and other intermediary organisations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree level education or equivalent expert experience in developing and delivering account management relationships.
- Commercial skills with experience working with or for private sector businesses.
- Understanding of standard business functions such as sales & marketing, international trade, finance, PR, human resources and strategic business planning.
- Awareness of the range of issues facing businesses at local, regional and national levels.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and communicate effectively with senior business leaders.
- Awareness of key partners and business support organisations and programmes, including government/public sector funding.
- Results‑driven, able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent relationship management and customer‑satisfaction skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, and positively influence others.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Mobility
- Ideally owns a car and holds a full driving licence.
- Willing and able to travel to different locations around the county, occasionally further afield.
- Willing and able to work some unsocial hours such as early mornings or evenings as required.
