The Safeguarding Team is seeking an enthusiastic, resilient and highly motivated Head of Safeguarding and Student Wellbeing to support the work of the Head of Student Services and Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) across all College campuses at Herefordshire, Ludlow and North Shropshire College.
This operational management role carries responsibility as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead and includes line management of Safeguarding Leads, mentoring and support staff to ensure the effective delivery of high-quality pastoral services for students. The postholder will oversee and dynamically manage staff caseloads across support, advisory and information services, ensuring timely and effective responses to student need, alongside a proactive approach to in-service development.
The role is central to promoting and enhancing student safety, health and wellbeing, and in improving student retention and academic success across the College. Working collaboratively with internal teams and external partner agencies will be a key element of the position, ensuring robust safeguarding practice and effective multi-agency intervention.
The successful candidate will demonstrate energy, commitment and leadership in this pivotal role and will have significant experience of managing pastoral and welfare related services within a large organisation. Experience of supporting diverse client groups through a solutions focused approach is essential, alongside a proven track record of effective multi-agency working to support positive outcomes for young people.
