Herefordshire, Ludlow and North Shropshire College (HLNSC) is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Tutor to join our Adult and Community Learning Division, delivering engaging and high-quality learning in Functional Skills English, mathematics or both. We are particularly seeking individuals with capacity to take on online and/or evening classes. Based initially at The Gateway Centre, Shrewsbury, you will play a key role in supporting adult learners to gain vital skills, achieve qualifications, and progress in their careers and everyday lives.

Main Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high quality, engaging lessons from Entry level 1 to Level 2
  • Support and motivate adult learners to achieve their goals.
  • Track progress and prepare learners for exams
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment

About You

  • Has strong subject knowledge in English and/or maths up to Level 2
  • Is proficient in the demands of both GCSE and Functional Skills qualifications
  • Has experience in teaching GCSE and Functional Skills maths and/or English, ideally to adult learners
  • Is confident in the use of online teaching platforms e.g. Microsoft Teams
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate adult learners.
  • Is flexible, professional, and committed to high‑quality teaching and learning.
  • Holds a full UK driving licence and is willing to travel to other HLNSC campuses if required.
