Overview
As part of the continuing development and growth of our plumbing & heating provision at Herefordshire, Ludlow & North Shropshire College (HLNSC), we are seeking to appoint to a full-time Lecturer in Plumbing and Heating. This is a full-time vacancy, starting in November, but the offer of a fractional post for the right candidate(s) will also be considered. To teach a range of theory and practical plumbing & heating subjects and units to Levels 1 and 2, to mainly full time 16-19 year old students studying for plumbing qualifications. Delivery of skills and knowledge for Level 3 Gas & Plumbing apprentices, and for renewables training such as Solar Thermal and Heat Pumps may also be included for those suitably qualified. Teaching-Training will take place at our Hereford campus and at our new, Green Technologies Training Centre at Holme Lacy.
As part of the role you will also be expected to carry out the associated organisational / administrative processes including preparation of work, marking and assessment, student welfare and counselling and to support and participate fully in the ongoing Faculty and College activities to achieve the Colleges key mission and objectives.
Responsibilities
- Teach a range of theory and practical plumbing & heating subjects and units to Levels 1 and 2 for mainly 16-19 year old students.
- Deliver Level 3 Gas & Plumbing apprenticeship content and renewables training (Solar Thermal and Heat Pumps) for those suitably qualified.
- Carry out associated organisational/administrative tasks: preparation of work, marking and assessment, student welfare and counselling.
- Support and participate in ongoing Faculty and College activities to achieve the College’s mission and objectives.
Qualifications
- Fully qualified (minimum Level 3) with relevant work/industrial experience within the plumbing & heating industry.
- Those without teaching experience but willing to train towards teaching are welcome to apply.

- Under the Taking Teaching Further Scheme, eligible recruits may receive a £6,000 incentive payment: £3,000 at the end of year one and £3,000 at the end of year two of the programme.
- Salary up to £38,066 depending on qualifications and experience.
