The Role
Act as the Family Help Lead Practitioner for a complex caseload within a locality-based team, delivering effective help, protection, and intervention services to children, young people and their families. Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting children and families to achieve positive and sustainable outcomes.
- Assessing needs, identifying risks and developing tailored Family Help Plans.
- Chairing and contributing to child‑in‑need, core group and strategy meetings.
- Conducting safeguarding work and risk assessments in partnership with the Multi‑Agency Child Protection Team (MACPT).
- Building restorative relationships, maintaining accurate records, writing reports and court work.
- Supporting the statutory framework, including the Children Act 1989, Children Act 2004, and Working Together 2026.
About You
You are a qualified Social Worker (Social Work Degree, DipSW, CQSW or equivalent) with current Social Work England registration and a strong commitment to professional development. You bring experience working with children and families in a statutory social care setting, and possess a solid understanding of safeguarding, child protection and relevant legislation. You are skilled in risk assessment, analysing complex family dynamics and delivering interventions that support children to remain within their families wherever possible. Excellent communication skills, empathy, organisational resilience and the ability to manage a demanding workload are essential. You share a strong commitment to improving outcomes for children and families while working collaboratively and upholding values of trust, honesty, responsibility, inclusivity and empathy.

- Salary: £36,363 – £40,777 per annum (HC8 band) with a £5,000 market‑rate supplement (£41,363 – £45,777 in total)
