Herefordshire Council are seeking a passionate, knowledgeable and RBI 3 Principal Building Control Surveyor to join our Building Control Team. If you have a passion for building control, this is the role for you.
Responsibilities
- Lead an existing team of Building Control Surveyors and Technical Support Officers.
- Provide building control service at an operational level, including day‑to‑day activities and administrative duties.
- Deputise for the Building Control Manager as necessary.
- Deal with internal and external customers regarding building control matters—regulation applications, site inspections, building safety levy charges, pre‑application advice, potentially dangerous structure reports and enforcement enquiries.
- Work with IT providers to maintain accurate computer records and prepare periodic data reports.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the council and report directly to the Building Control Manager.
Qualifications
- Understanding of the role of a registered building inspector and the requirements of the building safety regulator.
- Strong knowledge of building control, regulatory issues and current legislation.
- Demonstrable experience and knowledge in this specialist area.
- Ability to work independently and within a team, often meeting tight deadlines and managing multiple work streams.
