Our ambitious growth aspirations in line with our Council Plan 2024 – 2028 will deliver more for both residents and businesses across the community of Herefordshire. We are looking to recruit to this critical post in our Economy and Environment Directorate to help us do just that.

You will take responsibility for the successful delivery of a broad portfolio of critical front line services, leading a diverse team of highly skilled professionals across Highways and Environment, Economy and Business Services, and Strategic Transport. You will also be responsible for ensuring that the frontline services in Herefordshire achieve a high profile by setting, delivering and maintaining high standards and by forging strong partnerships. Whilst we expect that you will have a technical background in one or more of these service areas, we are far more interested in your ability to lead a substantial and diverse team towards delivering excellence for our residents and businesses.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE And EXPERIENCE

  1. An experienced senior manager with a track record of delivering top quality public services and continuous improvement.
  2. A background of successfully leading multiple business units and meeting the needs of customers across diverse localities.
  3. The ability to translate corporate strategy into service delivery by generating clarity for others through exceptional leadership, organisational development and change management expertise.
  4. Demonstrable achievement of value for money for customers with a strong focus on maximising a return from available resources.
  5. A leader who engages and enables others to deliver their best.
  6. Knowledge of commissioning-based service models and their application in a public service context.
  7. Ability to build partnership relationships and influence government policy.
  8. A comprehensive professional/developmental track record, including relevant advanced theoretical and practical knowledge acquired through qualification to Qualifications and Curriculum Framework Level 8 for specialist knowledge and Level 7 for managerial knowledge or equivalent experience for both.
