This is a two‑day a week (15 hours) fixed‑term post (9 months). It is open only to current employees of the Trust. The role is within the Worcestershire specialist perinatal mental health team.

Provide psychological support to clients with mental health difficulties in the perinatal period. Work as part of a highly motivated, multidisciplinary team, offering individual and group therapy, assessment and intervention services. Participate in group work, case reflection and education sessions. The post holder receives professional management from the Team Lead and clinical supervision from the Principal Psychologist.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide psychological therapies on an individual and group basis within the Herefordshire Perinatal team.
  • Conduct assessments and deliver interventions to support physical and mental health and well‑being during the perinatal period.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to plan and review care, including supervision, educational opportunities and reflective practice.
  • Attend Trust‑wide psychology meetings and other professional development activities.
  • Maintain a perinatal frame of mind, focusing on the experience of the baby, the parent‑child relationship and the family system.
  • Support clients with the transition to parenthood and related mental health needs.
Qualifications
  • Post‑graduate doctorates in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent Applied Psychology qualification) accredited by the B.P.S.
  • Registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC or equivalent (e.g. nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts therapy or a psychological therapy qualification) and further post‑graduate training or experience in an accredited model of psychological therapy.
  • Demonstrated competence in psychological therapy for adults, especially within perinatal services.
  • Member of a recognised professional body such as BABCP, BPS or NMC at the commencement of the post.
Experience
  • Significant experience working as a psychological therapist in mental health services with adults.
  • Experience maintaining professional working relationships amid highly emotive, distressing, or potentially aggressive situations.
  • Strong communication skills in addressing barriers to understanding and managing hostility, manipulation, conflict or antagonism.

  • Pay: Band 7 – £47,810 to £54,710 a year pro rata (part‑time).
  • Contract duration: 9 months fixed‑term.
  • Working pattern: Part‑time (15 hours).
  • Location: Studdert Kennedy House, Spring Gardens, Worcester, WR1 2AE.
  • Disclosures and Barring Service check (Rehabilitation of Offenders Act) required.
