Job Summary
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, progressive and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to work 3 days per week within the Mental Health Liaison Team, working within Hereford County Hospital. We support patients with a wide range of needs, including self-harm, adjustment to illness, physical and psychological co-morbidities. The successful candidate will be working alongside an experienced Specialty Doctor and Junior Doctor and will be supported by an established medical secretary. The successful applicant will have CPD time built into their job plan and will have access to study leave and a study budget. Main duties of the role include medical leadership in Liaison Psychiatry and medical support/supervision to the Liaison team, with second line specialist assessment and prescribing where appropriate.\”
Responsibilities
- To provide medical leadership in Liaison Psychiatry to the Mental Health Liaison team.
- To provide medical support and supervision to the Liaison team, completing second line specialist assessment and prescribing medical treatment where appropriate, supported by the Specialty and Junior Doctors.
- To contribute to the development of the service in conjunction with other team members, services within the Trust and other organisations locally including the Local Authority and Acute Trust.
- Work closely and in partnership with other services and organisations to contribute to a seamless service of mental health provision and the development of appropriate care pathways for onward referral of individuals in need of further assessment and support.
- You will provide senior medical advice, support, consultancy and clinical leadership, alongside the Specialty Doctor, to the Herefordshire Psychiatric Liaison Team and WVT clinicians. This will include leadership and advice on the further development of the liaison team and, during the development, responsibility for achievable consultant input into clinical services, to be finalised in job planning.
- It is expected that consultants will play a major role in the clinical leadership of the Psychiatric Liaison Service and work in partnership with the Community Service Manager responsible for these services. The consultant will have responsibility for line management of any junior and/or trainee doctors.
