Hereford Racecourse is a popular racecourse for trainers starting their horse's careers and for prep races ahead of prestigious Festivals later in the season.

The course is almost rectangular in shape measuring about 1m 3f around and is widely regarded as a fair, galloping track.

Many a horse has started off a glittering career, most recently Finian's Oscar made a stunning British debut at the track in December 2016.

We're looking for reliable and enthusiastic Casual Fence Attendants to join our team starting in

October 2026 .

This is a casual role, ideal for anyone looking to earn some extra income while being part of the excitement of race days.

Working for approximately 2 hours per race meeting, you'll help maintain the racing fences, ensuring they are safe and ready between races.

Key Responsibilities

  • Repair and replace birch in the racing fences between races.
  • Check your allocated section of the course and report any issues.
  • Work closely with the Racecourse team to help ensure racing runs safely and efficiently.
  • Follow all health and safety procedures.
  • Assist with fence preparation before racing as required.
