Responsibilities include advising on a broad range of transactions, including the taxation of M&A with a strong emphasis on crossâborder deals, corporate restructuring, energy taxation (including upstream work), equity and debt capital markets, finance (structured finance/securitisations), UK real estate, projects, funds and private equity. Work on tax disputes and investigations with the disputes specialists within the team, backed by the firm's leading disputes practice.
Support the firm and others by extending effective relationships across the global network; contribute to the development of team members; uphold the firm's values; contribute to the firm's initiatives; take steps to cultivate an excellent reputation and profile in the market and internally. Attend marketing/industry events and draft or help prepare articles, precedents and knowâhow materials; lead the development and delivery of training and presentations.
Qualifications, skills and experience:
- Operate as a mid or senior level associate with 3â7 years' PQE, while considering candidates with more or less experience if they possess the relevant skills.
- Strong technical tax lawyer with credible corporate tax experience; willingness to tackle new areas and apply knowledge across a varied range of matters.
- Ability and drive to work on bespoke, largeâticket, and complicated transactions and disputes.
- Experience in securitisations (preferably of various asset types and acting for different counterparties, e.g. seller, lead arranger) and other finance tax work is beneficial.
- Minimum of one year's experience in private practice and meeting the required competencies.
- Technical: Legal ability â detailed grasp of complex legal concepts, strong drafting skills, commercial perspective, and effective communication of complex legal advice to clients.
- Personal leadership: takes personal responsibility, is proâactive, and takes pride in client service delivery and quality of work.
- Teamwork: contributes to collaborative, highâperforming teams; works effectively with others to achieve success and prioritises the success of the team.
- Enhances the client experience: delivers highâquality work and excellent service; builds relationships with peers at clients and builds trust with senior client stakeholders.
