The Finance Assistant will play a key role in supporting the day‑to‑day running of the Finance function, with particular responsibility for payment management and assisting in the preparation of monthly management accounts. This role ensures accurate and timely financial processing, supports strong financial controls, and contributes to the smooth operation of the month‑end timetable.
Banking and Payments
- Process and manage supplier and intercompany payments in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain banking records and resolve payment queries with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor daily cash balances and report any discrepancies.
- Perform regular bank reconciliations across multiple accounts.
- Complete monthly cashflow review.
Monthly Management Accounts Support
- Assist with month‑end accruals and prepayments.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations including Fixed Assets and Intercompany accounts.
- Assist with the preparation of journals for posting.
- Collaborate with other finance team members to ensure efficient month‑end close within deadlines.
VAT & Compliance
- Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns for overseas branches, ensuring compliance with local regulations.
- Reconcile VAT accounts and investigate any discrepancies.
- Liaise with internal teams and external advisors where required to ensure accurate VAT reporting.
General Finance Administration
- Maintain accurate and organised financial records.
- Support audit requests and provide documentation when needed.
- Assist with ad‑hoc finance tasks and projects, including system improvements and procedural updates.
- Provide holiday/absence cover for other finance team members where appropriate.
Skills
- Essential
- Previous experience in a finance role.
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Good understanding of basic accounting principles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial systems.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Well organised, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.

Hours Of Work
Monday to Friday: 8/9am – 4/5pm (1-hour lunch break). 35 hours per week.
