Tax Advisory Manager — Owner-Managed Businesses
Location: Central London
Working pattern: Hybrid - 4 days a week in office, 1 day option to work from home
Qualifications: ATT and/or CTA qualified or part-qualified
In this role, you’ll play a key part in delivering high-quality tax advisory services to a diverse range of clients. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading tax advisory projects from initial planning through to completion, ensuring work is delivered to a high professional standard.
- Collaborating with the wider advisory team on complex or large-scale assignments, contributing your expertise to deliver the best outcomes for clients.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor on tax matters.
- Identifying opportunities to support clients further and contributing to business development through warm leads from both existing and prospective clients.
- Managing project budgets and billing responsibilities to ensure efficient and commercially sound delivery of services.
- Corporate tax advice: advising OMBs on profit extraction, pension funding, shareholder arrangements, corporate reorganisations, financing and transactions.
- Shareholder and family planning: providing joined-up advice on succession, inheritance tax and the interaction between company ownership, control and family wealth transfer. Family investment companies can separate economic ownership from day-to-day control, but the structure and implementation must reflect its genuine estate-planning purpose.
- Transaction support: identifying tax consequences of share issues, debtcapital arrangements, dividend planning and changes in share ownership, with particular care where value is transferred among family shareholders.
- Client leadership: managing client relationships, supervising advisory work, reviewing technical output and collaborating with colleagues across accounts, audit and private client teams
Candidate profile
- You will be ATT and/or CTA qualified, or a part-qualified tax professional with demonstrable strong corporate tax compliance experience (corporate tax advisory experience would be an advantage).
- You will bring strong technical judgement, clear written communication and the confidence to explain advice to entrepreneurial clients.
- At least 5 years’ experience working in Tax Advisory Services, with a strong understanding of advisory work and the wider tax advisory market.
- Proven experience preparing and delivering tax advisory reports. Experience working in an environment where you contribute to generating new work through client relationships and business development.
- Experience in the following areas would be advantageous: Company Restructures & Reorganisations, Succession Planning, Share Schemes, Company Purchase of Own Shares, Tax Investigations, VAT, R&D, SDLT, Inheritance Tax, and Trusts.
The position offers meaningful responsibility, direct client exposure and the opportunity to work on connected corporate and shareholder planning for established and growing family businesses.
