Hensall Co-op is seeking a dynamic individual to become an integral member of our Maintenance Team! This position is full-time, working out of the Hensall location. The Forklift Mechanic is responsible for providing maintenance for all vehicles and mobile equipment, and will ensure that all equipment is available, dependable and in proper working order.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain preventative maintenance schedules for all mobile equipment, including trucks, forklifts, skid steers, loaders, rail kings etc.
- Determine, organize, and oversee maintenance and repair of all equipment and vehicles.
- Maintain equipment so it can reach peak optimum performance and prevent breakdowns.
- Diagnose repairs needed and schedule required shop time.
- Perform emergency breakdown repairs when needed.
- Complete all documentation and checklists associated with preventative maintenance and ensure all maintenance records of vehicles are accurate and up to date.
- Undertake planned and unplanned vehicle inspections.
- Ensure all machine maintenance records are accurate and up to date at all times.
- Negotiate service agreements with external suppliers to ensure cost efficiencies.
- Understand and follow all Hensall Co-op safety procedures and policies.
- All other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Strong familiarity with and understanding of all mobile equipment operated at HC.
- Ability to perform manual labour for long periods of time.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer skills, including proficiency in MS Suite.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to meet time limits and deadlines.
- General understanding of livestock feed production processes and related equipment.
Qualifications:
- Formal Auto Mechanic education.
- Previous work experience with motorized equipment.
- 5+ years of experience working with large engines and motorized equipment.
- Mechanic’s License is an asset.
- Forklift License or willingness to obtain.
