Job Title: Freelance Site Manager (x2) – Curtain Walling / Façade Location: Stoke-on-Trent (University of Staffordshire) Duration: Freelance – 6 month contract Start: ASAP Overview: A specialist contractor is seeking two experienced Freelance Site Managers to support the delivery of a £3M envelope package at the University of Staffordshire. The project involves curtain walling and other façade works wrapped around a glulam (glue-laminated timber) frame. Strong curtain walling knowledge and an emphasis on quality assurance (QA) are essential for this role. Key Responsibilities: * Oversee day-to-day site operations, ensuring works are completed safely, on time, and to specification * Manage the façade installation including curtain walling systems on a live university site * Ensure all QA processes are followed rigorously and documentation is maintained to the highest standard * Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers, particularly those involved in envelope and cladding installation * Report to the Project Manager with updates on progress, issues, and logistics * Maintain a clean and compliant site, ensuring adherence to health & safety regulations * Liaise with the wider project team, consultants, and client representatives when required Requirements: * Proven experience as a Site Manager on façade or envelope packages * Strong background in curtain walling systems (essential) * Experience working with glulam / timber frame structures (preferred but not essential) * Demonstrable understanding of QA processes and documentation * SMSTS, CSCS (Black or Gold), and First Aid certification * Ability to manage subcontractors and drive programme on fast-paced projects * Strong communication and organisational skills Project Notes: * Live university environment – experience managing works in sensitive or operational settings is beneficial * Candidates must be reliable, proactive, and confident in delivering to high standards under minimal supervision
