Company Overview

A reputable and growing main contractor with a strong track record in delivering high-quality construction projects across the commercial, residential, and mixed-use sectors is looking to appoint a capable and driven Senior Engineer. The company prides itself on excellence in delivery, innovation, and maintaining high safety and quality standards across all projects.

Position Overview

The Senior Engineer will play a key role in supporting the engineering function on-site, ensuring precise setting out, overseeing temporary works, maintaining façade quality assurance, and managing all aspects of scaffolding operations. This is a great opportunity for an engineer with 3–4 years of experience looking to take the next step in their career with a forward-thinking contractor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake and oversee setting out duties using robotic instruments and GPS, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project drawings.
  • Support the management and coordination of all temporary works, including inspections, approvals, and collaboration with the Temporary Works Coordinator and designers.
  • Lead on-site façade QA activities, ensuring installations meet the required quality and design specifications.
  • Oversee the planning, erection, inspection, and maintenance of scaffolding, ensuring compliance with safety standards and programme requirements.
  • Review and contribute to method statements, risk assessments, and inspection test plans (ITPs).
  • Conduct routine site inspections and monitor ongoing works for quality and safety compliance.
  • Provide support and guidance to junior engineers and site operatives.
  • Liaise with project teams, subcontractors, and consultants to ensure smooth project delivery.

Candidate Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or a construction-related discipline.
  • 3–4 years of relevant experience with a main contractor.
  • Proficient in setting out and use of surveying equipment (e.g., Leica, Trimble).
  • Strong understanding of temporary works, façade systems, and scaffolding procedures.
  • Working knowledge of UK building regulations, British Standards, and CDM regulations.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive team player with a strong eye for detail.
  • Temporary Works Supervisor certification (or willingness to work toward it) is desirable.
