London, Thames Valley & Surrounding Areas
Up to £110,000 + £6,000 Car Allowance + Travel Expenses + Private Healthcare
Permanent
I’m working with an established, privately owned Tier 1 main contractor looking to appoint a Contracts Manager to join its Southern Region.
The business turns over approximately £1.4bn and has a strong financial position, longstanding client relationships and a varied pipeline across commercial, education, residential and public sector projects.
This is a good opportunity for an experienced Contracts Manager looking for real ownership of their workload, backed by an established regional leadership team and the resources of a national contractor.
The role
You’ll oversee approximately 2–3 live projects, alongside 1–3 schemes progressing through PCSA and pre-construction. Experienced Project Managers will report directly into you, with responsibility for guiding their teams and keeping projects on track from the early stages through to handover.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading delivery across multiple projects, ensuring safety, quality, programme and commercial targets are met.
- Supporting Project Managers and their site teams, providing clear direction and resolving delivery challenges.
- Overseeing schemes through PCSA, working closely with pre-construction, design, planning and commercial teams.
- Managing resources, procurement priorities and key project milestones.
- Building strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
- Working with commercial teams to monitor performance, manage risk and protect project margins.
- Developing your team and reporting progress, risks and resource requirements to the regional leadership team.
What we’re looking for
You’ll be an experienced Contracts Manager, or operating in a similar senior operational role, with a strong main contracting background and a track record of managing multiple projects.
You’ll need:
- Experience taking projects from pre-construction through to completion.
- A strong understanding of PCSA, procurement, programme management and project delivery.
- The ability to lead experienced Project Managers and build effective site teams.
- Good commercial awareness and a proactive approach to managing risk.
- Experience across commercial, education, residential or public sector projects.
- Strong client relationships and a straightforward, collaborative approach.
DfE project experience would be an advantage, but it isn’t essential. The business is equally interested in candidates with a strong delivery record across the other relevant sectors.
What’s on offer
- Basic salary up to £110,000.
- Travel expenses.
- Private healthcare and wider benefits.
- A varied workload across the Southern Region.
- Autonomy to manage your projects, with support from an experienced leadership team.
- Long-term progression within a financially strong, established contractor.
