Assistant Quantity Surveyor Main Contractor | Permanent | Essex-based | Projects across London & Home Counties A well-established Main Contractor based in Essex is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team. This is a permanent, full-time role offering genuine career progression and exposure to a variety of exciting projects across multiple sectors. Important Note: This role requires someone who can remeasure subcontractor accounts and has a strong understanding of construction. We pay subcontractors for actual works completed — not by percentages. We are not looking for a clerk — we are looking for someone with technical confidence and the ability to measure subcontractor works accurately. 🏗 About the Company This family-owned main contractor is known for its open, team-based culture and long-standing members of staff who bring deep knowledge and stability to the business. As a medium-sized contractor, they deliver a wide range of services while staying closely connected to their clients\’ goals and values. With a reputation built on quality, personal service, and long-term relationships, this contractor works across sectors including: * Commercial (light industrial) * Education (state & private) * Community & Heritage * Residential (private & public) * Leisure, Health, and Performing Arts Project values typically range from £1m–£20m in Central & Greater London and the North/East Home Counties. 🧱 Role Overview You’ll join a supportive and experienced commercial team, assisting a Senior Quantity Surveyor across all project stages — from pre-construction to final delivery. Location: Office and site-based. The company office is in Barking (15-minute walk from the station), and projects are within the M25. Ideally, candidates should live within a 45-minute drive of the office.
