The Role

I am looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Ecologist to join an expanding ecology team in Birmingham. Working within a multi-disciplinary consultancy, you will collaborate closely with planners, landscape architects, and environmental scientists on a diverse portfolio of projects across the residential, commercial, infrastructure, and public sectors. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Ecologist seeking greater responsibility, project ownership, and career progression within a supportive and technically focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage ecological projects from inception to completion
  • Undertake and supervise a range of protected species and habitat surveys including protected species, UK Hab, and PEAs.
  • Prepare high-quality technical reports
  • Provide ecological advice
  • Manage budgets and client communications
  • Mentoring junior staff members

Requirements

  • Relevant degree e.g. Ecology, Zoology etc
  • 4+ years consultancy experience
  • Strong knowledge of UK wildlife legislation
  • Excellent report writing and technical review skills
  • Protected species license - GCN, Bat.
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Full UK driving license
