About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Mechanical Engineering Assessor to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a dedicated and supportive team in delivering high-quality apprenticeships and vocational training to the next generation of engineers. As an assessor, you will support and assess learners in the workplace and college environment, ensuring they progress successfully through their programme and achieve industry-recognised qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess learner progress in line with awarding body requirements and college procedures.
  • Deliver high-quality training and support in mechanical engineering topics including CNC, CAD, thermodynamics, hydraulics, machine work.
  • Liaise with employers and maintain strong working relationships to ensure learner development meets industry standards.
  • Monitor learner attendance, performance, and progression.
  • Complete all associated administrative work and maintain accurate learner records.

About You

  • A relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering (minimum Level 3; ideally HNC/HND or higher).
  • Assessor qualification (e.g., TAQA, A1, D32/33) – or willingness to work towards one.
  • Recent industry experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A passion for education, training, and supporting learners in their career progression.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, CertEd, Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training).
  • Internal Verifier qualification (V1 or equivalent).
  • Experience working with apprenticeship standards and End Point Assessment.
