Overview

Purpose of the Role: To deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment in Carpentry & Joinery (including both site and bench skills) to learners on full-time, part-time and apprenticeship programmes, helping them to achieve their qualifications and progress into employment or further study.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching & Learning: Plan and deliver engaging lessons and practical workshops across Levels 1-3 (and relevant apprenticeships) in Carpentry & Joinery.
  • Teaching & Learning: Create schemes of work, lesson plans, and resources in line with awarding-body specifications (City & Guilds or equivalent).
  • Teaching & Learning: Embed English, Maths, digital skills, and health & safety within all teaching.
  • Assessment & Support: Set, mark, and assess student work, providing timely, constructive feedback.
  • Assessment & Support: Prepare learners for internal and external assessments, including end-point assessments (EPA) for apprentices.
  • Assessment & Support: Support individual learning needs, including learners with SEND or additional support needs.
  • Quality & Compliance: Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress and achievement in line with college policies.
  • Quality & Compliance: Participate in internal and external quality assurance and standardisation activities.
  • Quality & Compliance: Follow safeguarding, Prevent, and health & safety requirements at all times.
  • Professional Development & Collaboration: Keep up to date with industry developments and curriculum changes.
  • Professional Development & Collaboration: Participate in CPD to maintain vocational and teaching skills.
  • Professional Development & Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues, employers, and awarding organisations to maintain high standards of provision.
