Job Title: Internal Quality Assurer (IQA)

Carpentry & Joinery

Location : Hounslow

Contract Type : Contract, Fixed Hours (Initially)

Hourly Rate : Competitive, dependent on experience and qualifications

Purpose of the Role

To ensure the quality and consistency of assessment practices within the Carpentry & Joinery curriculum. The IQA will support assessors in maintaining high standards, verifying learner evidence, and ensuring compliance with awarding body and organisational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct internal quality assurance of Carpentry & Joinery assessments in line with awarding body standards (e.g. City & Guilds, NOCN, Pearson).
  • Sample learner portfolios, observations, and assessor judgements to ensure reliability and consistency.
  • Provide constructive feedback and support to assessors to develop and maintain best practice in assessment.
  • Monitor the implementation of assessment plans and ensure timely completion of IQA sampling activities.
  • Maintain accurate IQA documentation and records for audits and external quality assurance visits.
  • Contribute to standardisation meetings and continuous improvement activities across the Construction curriculum.
  • Support the development of curriculum materials and ensure alignment with current industry standards.
  • Liaise with awarding organisations, employers, and colleagues to ensure compliance and high‑quality delivery.
  • Promote equality, diversity, health & safety, and safeguarding in all aspects of work.

Essential Criteria

  • Recognised qualification in Carpentry & Joinery (Level 3 or above).
  • Current IQA qualification (e.g. Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice).
  • Recent experience working as an assessor or IQA within a construction or vocational training environment.
  • Up‑to‑date occupational knowledge and understanding of apprenticeship standards and qualifications in Carpentry & Joinery.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and record‑keeping skills.
