Hours of work: 32.5 hours per week. Monday to Friday 8.30am - 3.30pm (including 30 minutes unpaid lunch break).

Henley in Arden School are looking for a Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and talented team and deliver interventions to small groups across the year groups. A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen to join our fantastic Special Educational Needs team in our forward‑thinking and aspirational school based in Warwickshire’s beautiful, medieval market town of Henley-in-Arden.

You’ll be joining a passionate and exceptionally performing department which nurtures and develops our students’ learning throughout their time with us and helps develop their language, knowledge and skills. At Henley-in-Arden we promote an inclusive atmosphere, all students have access to a broad and balanced curriculum that is delivered through high quality teaching and learning.

In order to support our students with special educational needs, we focus on quality‑first teaching with a particular emphasis on effective differentiation. This helps to ensure that students can access the curriculum whilst predominantly being taught in mainstream mixed‑ability classes. Teaching staff are supported by a highly skilled Learning Support team who work across the key stages providing support in class for students who require it the most.

At Henley‑In‑Arden we work with students who have specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia as well as students with sensory difficulties, physical conditions, ASD, ADHD, visual and hearing impairments. The key responsibilities for this post are as follows:

  • Support students in class with learning activities; monitoring and evaluating their progress
  • Provide support, encouragement, advice and guidance to students
  • Challenge and motivate students
  • Provide support for students with approved exam dispensations
  • Be involved in the development and implementation of behaviour management
  • Participate in marking students’ work and record achievements/progress
  • Be familiar with SEN Code of Practice and the school’s systems and structures as outlined in policy documents including Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Child Protection policies
  • Establish constructive relationships with students, parents/carers, external specialists

Qualifications required:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs, Grade C/4 to include English & Maths
  • Knowledge or experience of working with children who have learning difficulties is desirable
  • Ability to orally communicate effectively with a range of audiences
  • A caring and supportive disposition
  • Desirable: Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant Qualifications or Supporting Teaching & Learning in School Certificate (Level 3) or Graduate qualification to enable support to be given to a subject within the school
