30-37 hours per week by negotiation, flexible working including occasional evening meetings, (will consider 30 hours for the suitable candidate)

Salary: Β£33,143-Β£34,434pa (NJC PayScale 21-23) pro rata dependent upon experience and subject to pending pay increase.

Benson Parish Council is seeking a motivated, highly organised and proactive individual to join our team in this varied and rewarding role.

About the Council

The Council plays a key role in delivering local services and managing community assets, including many green spaces, allotments and two main buildings with hireable spaces, and a further one to come next year. As an ambitious and forward-thinking authority, it is actively involved in community development, place-making and improving quality of life for residents.

About the Role

The role focuses on managing the hall, hirers and booking system; supporting the grounds team to deliver services for the community; and assisting the Clerk with projects, priorities and events.

We are looking for someone who thrives on delivery, enjoys variety and wants to make a visible difference in a growing and ambitious community. From coordinating projects and improving services to supporting governance and helping deliver major council priorities.

Main responsibilities

  • Manage the Scribe Hall hire booking and invoice system,
  • Manage the Halls, customers and external facilities contractors.
  • Manage the facilities and staff.
  • Support the Halls Committee, who meet every 6-8 weeks.
  • Work closely with office and outdoor teams to improve delivery and organisational effectiveness.
  • Manage the allotment sites.
  • Coordinate delivery of council projects, priorities and services.
  • Support community initiatives, events and strategic projects.
  • Support the parish clerk in all aspects of Council.

No two days are the same, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied, fast-paced and rewarding role.

The successful candidate will have

  • Previous relevant experience within local government, parish councils or a similar governance environment.
  • Strong administration and organisational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft 365.
  • A calm, professional and diplomatic approach.
