Stonemason Location: York, North Yorkshire Salary: £34,000 – £42,000 per annum (depending on experience) Job Type: Full-time, Permanent About the Role We are recruiting an experienced Stonemason to join a well-established company based in York that specialises in historic building restoration, conservation and heritage masonry projects across Yorkshire and the surrounding counties. Working on churches, listed buildings, historic landmarks and prestigious restoration schemes, you'll play a key role in preserving traditional craftsmanship while delivering exceptional quality on a wide variety of projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled stonemason who takes pride in their work and enjoys working on unique and rewarding heritage projects. Key Responsibilities * Carry out stone restoration, repair and replacement works on historic and listed buildings. * Cut, shape, carve and dress natural stone using traditional and modern masonry techniques. * Install new stonework to match existing structures while maintaining historical accuracy. * Read and interpret architectural drawings and conservation specifications. * Undertake sympathetic repairs using appropriate heritage materials and methods. * Operate masonry tools and equipment safely and efficiently. * Maintain the highest standards of workmanship while adhering to health and safety requirements. * Work collaboratively with site managers, conservation specialists and fellow tradespeople to deliver projects on time and to specification. About You To be successful in this role, you will have: * Proven experience as a Stonemason, Banker Mason or Fixer Mason. * Experience in restoration or conservation work is highly desirable. * Excellent attention to detail and a passion for traditional craftsmanship. * Ability to work from technical drawings and specifications. * Good problem-solving skills and a proactive approach. * Full UK driving licence preferred.
