The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join our growing pre-construction team based in Southampton. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a well-established electrical contractor delivering high-quality commercial, industrial, education, healthcare and residential projects across the South of England.

Working closely with the commercial and project delivery teams, you will play a key role in preparing accurate, competitive tenders and helping secure new business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed electrical estimates from drawings, specifications and tender documents.
  • Complete accurate take-offs and produce comprehensive cost plans.
  • Obtain and assess quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities to maximise project profitability.
  • Prepare tender submissions, clarifications and supporting documentation.
  • Attend site visits, pre-tender meetings and client meetings where required.
  • Work collaboratively with commercial, design and project management teams.
  • Maintain accurate estimating records and cost databases.
  • Ensure tenders are submitted on time and in line with company procedures.

About You

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Previous experience as an Electrical Estimator within the building services or electrical contracting sector.
  • Strong technical understanding of electrical installations and current regulations.
  • The ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
  • Experience using estimating software and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple tenders and meet tight deadlines.

Electrical qualifications such as an NVQ, City & Guilds, HNC/HND or equivalent would be advantageous.
