An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a growing commercial roofing contractor. This is a newly created role offering the chance to help establish and develop a new commercial department while working closely with senior management. This position would suit an ambitious Quantity Surveyor with extensive roofing experience who is looking to play a key role in the continued growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and produce monthly cost reports.
- Procure and commercially manage subcontract accounts from tender stage through to final account.
- Prepare and submit interim payment applications and final accounts.
- Identify, negotiate and agree contract variations with subcontractors and main contractors.
- Identify project cost risks at an early stage and implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Carry out value engineering exercises to maximise project profitability.
- Assist clients in defining project requirements and undertaking feasibility studies.
- Monitor and maintain positive contract cash flow.
- Prepare turnover and profit forecasts.
- Support the estimating and procurement teams where required.
- Resolve contractual and commercial issues throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage multiple projects independently while maintaining commercial control.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying.
- Minimum of 5 years' Quantity Surveying experience within the roofing sector.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts and contract law.
- Knowledge of insurance and commercial risk management.
- Proven ability to independently manage projects from inception through to final account.
- Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience using Apple Mac systems is advantageous but not essential.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Self‑motivated, proactive and capable of working independently.
- Ambition to contribute to the continued growth and development of the business.
